Civil Humanitarian Diplomat Elvira Leuenberger has inaugurated Verein Frauen Schutz Leben in Kanton Bern, Switzerland.

The initiative advances protection for women in Switzerland through care, safety and human accompaniment.

Elvira Leuenberger, an international Civil Diplomat of Jethro International, also works as a visual artist. In 2025, she received the Troféu Destaque 2025, recognising her public presence and social commitment.

Frauen Schutz Leben carries a clear mission: Schutz und Unterstützung für Frauen. The organisation protects women against physical, psychological and sexual violence.

The association offers first assistance, emotional support and practical guidance. It also helps remove women from immediate danger when they face aggression at home.

When the risk escalates, the organisation contacts security forces. This action helps protect victims in cases of repeated violence by husbands or partners.

At the Verein, women may stay for up to one month. During this period, they receive psychological and structural support. Therefore, they can plan safer next steps.

Protection for women in Switzerland and domestic violence

Switzerland often appears as a safe and stable country. However, violence against women also affects vulnerable women in Swiss society.

According to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, police registered 21,127 domestic violence offences in 2024. Women represented 70% of registered victims.

The Federal Office for Gender Equality recognises physical, psychological, sexual and economic violence among the forms of violence against women. It also notes many unreported cases.

This context makes the work of Frauen Schutz Leben especially relevant. Many women face fear, silence and isolation before they find help.

A humanitarian inauguration with Civil Diplomats

The inauguration gathered Civil Diplomats who share a commitment to human dignity. Civil Diplomat Renata França contributed communication expertise to the initiative in social networks.

Renata França directs Eurritmia, works as a videomaker and acts as a digital mentor. Civil Diplomat Márcio also joined the inauguration.

Together, they helped mark an important moment for women who need safety, listening and hope.

Swiss women’s shelters offer protection, accommodation, counselling and accompaniment to women facing physical, psychological or sexualised violence. They also welcome women regardless of nationality, income or language.

For this reason, Verein Frauen Schutz Leben strengthens protection for women in Switzerland with a humane and inclusive approach.

No woman should face fear, loneliness or pain alone.
