A Distinguished Night for Civil Diplomacy in Europe at the Cidadela de Cascais

A night of dignity rose inside the stone walls of the Forte da Cidadela de Cascais, where new Civil Diplomats received their credentials, badges, and the formal recognition of their humanitarian responsibilities.

The evening welcomed leaders, guests, and humanitarian voices. The historic venue created an atmosphere of purpose and refinement, echoing the growing role of Civil Humanitarian Diplomacy across Europe.

As a Civil Diplomat and the Event Host, Mrs. Helena Fonseca guided the ceremony with discernment, elegance, and a refined presence.

Ronan de Andrade Horta highlights Civil Diplomacy in Los Angeles

The Director of Expansion for Arts and Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Founder of Business Social Club – BSC Global continues to strengthen the international presence of Civil Diplomacy through culture and dialogue.

 

Ronan officially represented the organisation in Hollywood at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival (LABRFF).
His documentary Aquele Abraço – The Hug received three nominations and moved audiences at the historic Culver Theater.

During the festival, he also presented the Sala de Star Talk Show, creating a cultural bridge between Portugal, Brazil, and the United States.

His journey confirms that Civil Diplomacy expands when culture becomes a shared language.

 

Civil Diplomats Certification and the Global Mission

The Civil Diplomat Jethro Org. strengthened its European presence by certifying new Civil Diplomats.

A Distinguished Highlight: The Martin Luther King Jr Award

The evening carried an emotional note when the organisation honoured: Colonel José Custódio Madaleno Geraldo,

for his cultural, academic, and humanitarian contributions to Portugal and to the Civil Humanitarian Diplomacy.

His work in history, defence and poetry, esonated deeply with the ideals celebrated by the award.

Throughout many ceremonies, conferences, and humanitarian forums, Colonel José Geraldo stood on this very stage as the one who honoured others. On this night, the roles gently reversed.

For years, he has embodied the principles of Civil Humanitarian Diplomacy in Portugal. As National Director of the Civil Diplomat Org., he has acted as a guardian of human dignity and a voice for active citizenship, affirming the place where citizens respond to the humanitarian needs of society.

A retired Colonel, born in Torrão in 1961, he holds a degree in Military Sciences and a Master’s in Military History from the Military Academy. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Defence, History, and International Relations.

His career includes service in multiple army units, advisory work at the National Defence Institute, and nine years as Director of the Army Journal.

Beyond his military path, he stands out as a historian, author, and cultural bridge-builder.

His work ranges from studies on the Napoleonic invasions to poetry celebrating love and memory. His contributions have received international recognition across academic, cultural, and editorial projects.

He currently serves as Vice-President of the League of Combatants of Mafra and Executive Director of Combatente magazine.
More recently, he created the television programme Um Copo e Dois Dedos de Poesia, celebrating Portuguese and universal culture.

The tribute reached its symbolic height when the Martin Luther King Award was presented to him by Jenifer Freire, First Lady of Civil Diplomacy.

 

The Civil Diplomats Cruise 2026 Invitation

The ceremony concluded with an invitation to the World Meeting of Civil Diplomats, scheduled for September 2026 on European seas.
Diplomats will gather for training, dialogue, and cultural exchange.
