Civil Diplomat and Expansion Director Trajano Martins Joins the Military Sports Gala at Super Bock Arena

The Super Bock Arena, in Porto, welcomed the first Military Sports Gala, a landmark evening created to honour military athletes who stood out across multiple sporting disciplines throughout the year.

The ceremony reinforced institutional recognition for excellence, discipline, and dedication within military sport, bringing together distinguished guests for a night that combined celebration, public recognition, and civic spirit. The purpose was honouring military athletes across multiple sports.  

A historic milestone for military sport

The Military Sports Gala was presented as an unprecedented moment in the Armed Forces’ sporting calendar, spotlighting athletes whose performance and commitment reflect the values of service, perseverance, and team spirit.

By placing military sport at the centre of a formal gala, the organisers signalled a clear message: sporting merit is also part of military excellence, and deserves public acknowledgement.

Civil Diplomat Dr Francisco Coelho extended a special invitation to the Expansion Director Dr Trajano Martins, who attended the ceremony accompanied by Civil Diplomat Dr Ana Martins, recently recognised with the Civil Diplomat credentials.

Their presence highlighted the value of institutional dialogue and respectful engagement between civic humanitarian leadership and broader public initiatives, especially those that celebrate merit while strengthening community-minded purpose.  

Solidarity alongside recognition

Alongside the tributes to athletes, the gala also carried a solidarity purpose, directing its charitable cause to the Cáritas Diocesana do Porto, an institution known for its work with families and communities experiencing vulnerability.

In this way, the evening connected two powerful ideas: celebrating achievement and reinforcing social conscience, within a setting that brought together service, sport, and community.
