SOLEMN ACT AT CIDADELA DE CASCAIS CELEBRATES HUMANITARIAN AND CIVIL DIPLOMACY FROM JETHRO INTERNATIONAL

Humanitarian and Civil Diplomacy: a memorable event at the historic Fortaleza da Cidadela de Cascais

The ceremony, organized by Civil Diplomat Jethro, brought together diplomats, leaders, and special guests for the certification of new Humanitarian Civil Diplomats and the awarding of the Martin Luther King Prize.

Opening of the Event

The ceremony was conducted by the master of ceremonies Mrs. Helena Fonseca, who highlighted the importance of the event for humanitarian diplomacy.

The hosts of the evening were Colonel José Geraldo, Dr. Bruno Costa, and M. Patrick Van den Eede, who welcomed the attendees.

The event began with the execution of the National Anthem of Portugal, reinforcing the symbolism of the night and Jethro’s commitment to Civil Diplomacy and international cooperation.

The Importance of Civil Diplomat Jethro

The Civil and Humanitarian Diplomats address crucial issues such as sustainable energy, climate change, health, and migration.

During the ceremony, institutional videos were presented to illustrate the organization’s activities and impact worldwide.

Appointment of Expansion Directors

Jethro International also announced new Expansion Directors, who will play a key role in connecting with different sectors of society, strengthening the presence of humanitarian diplomacy worldwide.

• Mr. Anderson Vânio Coelho da Silva – appointed Director of Expansion of Jethro International
• Mrs. Bianca Curtinhas Almeida Pimentel – appointed Director of Expansion of Jethro International
• Mr. Filipe Trajano – appointed Director of Expansion of Jethro International
• Mr. Nuno Sabino Head of the Inspection and Court Orders Area at the Public Security Police of Sintra – appointed Director of Expansion of the Community Security Area.

Awarding of the Martin Luther King Prize

The Martin Luther King Prize, one of Jethro’s highest honors, was awarded to individuals who have excelled in humanitarian efforts and human rights advocacy. Among the honorees were:

• Dr. Raquel Azevedo Freitas: a psychologist with a Ph.D. from the University of Coimbra and the University of Lisbon. She specializes in educational psychology and is a researcher in neurodevelopment, interpersonal relationships, and psychopathology. She has held leadership roles in social projects and is the author of several books on education and personal development. Currently, she serves as the President of the Freguesia São Pedro Fins.

• Pedro Magrinho:  Chief of the Public Security Police of Sintra, with 28 years of dedicated service in public safety. He has been recognized for his extraordinary humanitarian actions, including saving the life of a 68-year-old woman who had lost consciousness after an accident. His quick intervention and commitment to life-saving efforts earned him the Municipal Merit Medal from the Mayor of Sintra, Dr. Basílio Horta, as well as this prestigious Martin Luther King Prize.

The awardees received their prizes from Patrick Van den Eede and Colonel José Geraldo, reinforcing the recognition of their contributions to society.

At the end of the ceremony, Colonel José Geraldo congratulated the new diplomats and honorees, emphasizing the importance of commitment to humanitarian diplomacy.
